IVF – In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is a process by which eggs (medically known as occytes) are fertilised by the sperm outside of the body. IVF offers the highest success rates for pregnancy among the various treatments available. The process of IVF includes:
Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery – A less invasive surgical procedure that is also known as “keyhole” surgery because it requires only two small incisions of approximately 1-2cm near the navel for the specialist to perform the procedure. Structural problems such as blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, fibroids and ovarian cysts may play a part in fertility problems. Surgery to correct these problems may sometimes enable women to conceive naturally. Laparoscopic surgeries are usually conducted as a day surgery with small wound and less pain with quicker recovery time.
Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing – Screens embryos for either a specific known genetic condition or chromosome abnormality, ultimately increasing the chances of pregnancy ad reducing miscarriages. There are 2 types of genetic tests used to identify genetic flaws in embryos which are Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) and Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Diseases (PGT-M).
High Resolution Next Generation Sequencing (Hr-NGS) – The most advanced cutting-edge technology to date for genetic screening. It is expected to change the world of genetics in time to come, offering predictions of a person’s health conditions even before birth.
Sperm Retrieval – Surgical sperm retrieval is performed when there is inadequate or no sperm (azoospermia) in the ejaculate. These procedures are carried out on an outpatient basis under anaesthesia and do not require hospital stay. Sperm may be obtained by several procedures such as Micro Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (MESA), Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (PESA) and Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE). The sperms retrieved will then be used for ICSI and IVF procedures.
Cryopreservation – A technique used to freeze eggs, sperm an embryos to sub-zero temperatures foe later use in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles. This method allows the eggs, sperm and embryos to sustain their original properties at the time of retrieval.
Fertility Support & Counseling – At TMC Fertility, support and counseling are provided to the patients to talk and discuss with a counsellor about the implications and better understanding of the suggested treatment before the patients consent to the next stage to ensure a better treatment and outcomes of each procedures taken.
